Our Mission
The mission of the NHC Dietetic Internship Program is:
“To prepare interns to become successful entry-level registered dietitian nutritionists through supervised practice and didactic learning experiences in clinical, foodservice management, community, and leadership in nutrition.”
The primary objective of the program is to train qualified individuals to become competent Registered Dietitians. For the 2027-2028 class, six dietetic interns will be selected for the program. You will experience supervised practice rotations in over ten different sites, including hospitals, long-term care centers, dialysis centers, foodservice, community and pediatrics settings. Our team of over twenty-five preceptors and faculty focus on you being prepared and confident as you begin your career.
Our Program Tracks
1: The NHC Dietetic Internship: Non-Degree Option
- Applicants must have completed a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) with a verification statement and a graduate degree including final official transcript by the start date of the internship program.
- If you already hold a graduate degree or will hold an approved graduate degree before August 2027, the supervised practice program will be completed in 9 months and will begin in August 2027 and conclude in May 2028.
2: The NHC Dietetic Internship: with concurrent MS Degree Option
- Applicants must have completed a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) with a verification statement and official transcript by the start date of the internship program.
- Applicants who do not hold an approved graduate degree may complete an online, 30-credit hour graduate program with one of our three partnering universities (MTSU, TTU, or UA).
- If you do not hold a graduate degree, the program will be completed in 15 months and will begin in May 2027 and conclude in August 2028.
