McKel Kooienga, MS, RDN, LDN
Director, Dietetic Internship at NHC

McKel Kooienga is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist with 15 years’ experience in nutrition education, private practice, and dietetics mentorship. She earned her Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition and completed her coordinated dietetic internship at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

Throughout her career, McKel has built a distinguished private practice, designing evidence-based nutrition education programs and training fellow dietitians in the principles of mindful eating. She is deeply committed to mentoring emerging professionals in the field and brings expertise across curriculum development, nutrition education, marketing, and professional writing to her role as Program Director of the Dietetic Internship at NHC.
