Dear Families,

Welcome to April’s news!  We look forward to enjoying all the signs of spring together at the center this month.

Special Announcement

NHC Fort Sanders invites you to celebrate NHC’s County Fair Week April 22nd – 26th hosted by UT Recreation Intern, Zoe Pryor, and the Recreation/Life Enrichment Dept. We are encouraging residents, families, and partners to participate in various activities throughout the week including “Making Pine Cone Farm Animals” on April, 23rd at 2:00pm, petting animals from STAR’s Minis in Motion Program on April, 25th at 2:00pm, and special event NHC County Fair Competition on April 26th from 2:00pm – 3:30pm in the Dining Room.

This month, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services launched a new requirement for long-term care centers regarding “Enhanced Barrier Precautions.”  You will see our team wearing gowns and gloves occasionally in the center.  This added level of precaution protects patients who might be more vulnerable if exposed to any multidrug-resistant organisms that live on the body.

We wanted to make sure you understand this is for extra precautions not because there is a new virus or germ in the center. As always, we appreciate your help in infection prevention! Washing our hands is the best way to prevent germs from spreading.

NHC Fort Sanders would like to encourage NHC Partners and patients’ families to participate in our NHC County Fair Competition on April 26th during our NHC County Fair Week. This special event will be one that residents, families, and partners can enjoy. There will be flyers about this event posted throughout the facility and a letter sent out to families via mail regarding event details if you are interested in submitting an entry for the competition. For further questions, please call Carla Kinser or Zoe Pryor, UT Recreation Intern, at (865) 525-4131, ext. 116.
