Dear Families,

Welcome to April’s news!  We look forward to enjoying all the signs of spring together at the center this month.

Special Announcement

Family and friends are always welcome in our activities. We have a lot of fun events planned for April, and we hope to utilize our outside courtyard and soak up some sunshine. Please contact Emily Hatch or Sara Bell if you have any questions regarding our recreational services.

This month, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services launched a new requirement for long-term care centers regarding “Enhanced Barrier Precautions.”  You will see our team wearing gowns and gloves occasionally in the center.  This added level of precaution protects patients who might be more vulnerable if exposed to any multidrug-resistant organisms that live on the body.

We wanted to make sure you understand this is for extra precautions not because there is a new virus or germ in the center. As always, we appreciate your help in infection prevention! Washing our hands is the best way to prevent germs from spreading.

Events for the month:

We are so excited for April! Our special events include the Solar Eclipse on April 8th at 3:00pm, Arts and Crafts with Kimberly from Caris on April 10th at 2:00pm, and a yummy mocktail hour on April 24th at 2:00pm in the courtyard. You do not want to miss our live musical performances this month on April 18th at 2:00pm and April 25th and 2:30pm! We hope to see you at all our activities!

Partner Shout Outs

If you are in the center this month, please join us in thanking our Occupational therapists and Health Information Management partners.  We appreciate their dedication and commitment to our patients. April is National Volunteer Appreciation Month as well, and we want to give a special shout out to our volunteers! They do so much for our residents and the kindness they bring to our facility is truly remarkable. We want to give a huge THANK YOU to David Fowler, Charlotte and Joe Bubar, Micki Ritchie, Barbara Widell, Rebecca Pettit, Kimberly Way, Paul Thompson, Darlene Cruze, Carol Bell, and Random Acts of Flowers. We also want to thank Bill and Anne Park for bringing their fur baby Darby. She brings the biggest smiles and so much joy! We are thankful to be partners with the HABIT pet therapy team. All of our volunteers are incredibly special to our NHC family, and we appreciate everything they do!
