Dear Families,
As we step into March, we are greeted by the promise of spring and the joy of longer days. With Daylight Savings Time just around the corner, we will soon enjoy more daylight in our evenings, giving us extra time to spend with loved ones and engage in outdoor activities.
Special Events: It is time to shake off those Winter Blues!! Although March is going to be a busy month, we are going to have lots of fun and shenanigans. From Mardi Gras to St. Patrick’s Day, we will have plenty to celebrate and even get to enjoy the First Day of Spring this month. We have a new jewelry making class coming on March 4th at 1:30pm, Patti will be making friendship bracelets with our residents in the Soda Fountain. Wednesday March 5th is Ash Wednesday and our Catholic volunteer, Carol, is coming to do Distribution of Ashes. After a delicious lunch out on Wednesday March 5th to Longhorn Steakhouse at 10:30am, our resident are going to be helping make candles to sell for our fundraiser with all proceeds going to Alzheimer’s of Tennessee. Our volunteer Sarah will be back for more Diamond Art in the evening on Wednesday March 5th at 5:30pm. The following Friday, March 7th at 2:30pm, we are going to theme our Happy Hour for Mardi Gras and enjoy some King Cake. On Monday March 10 and Monday March 17th at 10:30am, we are going to make Easter cards with Renita. Operation Christmas Child will be back on Tuesday March 11 at 1:30pm to help our residents make jump ropes and spinning tops for children in need. We are starting a Gardening Club for anyone who is interested. Our first activity will be Wednesday March 12 at 2:00pm learning about Butterflies and making Butterfly feeders to hang around our campus. St. Patrick’s Day is Monday March 17th, but we are going to celebrate early with a themed Happy Hour on Friday March 14th at 2:30 that includes all things green. Our monthly Resident Council meeting is Tuesday March 18th at 2:00pm in the Soda Fountain followed by Diamond Art with Sarah at 3:30pm. We will go shopping at Publix on Wednesday March 19th at 10:30am and then residents can enjoy an afternoon with a Live Musical Performance by Timothy in the Dining Room at 2:30pm. March 20th brings the First Day of Spring and with that we are going to make a butterfly shadow box in the afternoon at 1:30pm to celebrate the warmer days that are coming soon. We will finish our National Park Series on Friday March 21st at 10:30am and bake homemade Cinnamon Rolls. “At the Jukebox” is coming to perform on Tuesday March 25th at 2:30pm in our Dining Room. We finish the month off with Lunch at Cracker Barrel on Wednesday March 26th at 10:30am, a pampering Spa Afternoon at 2:30pm in our Soda Fountain, and Floral Arranging for our Gardening Club on Friday March 28th at 10:30am.
Announcements for Families: We are going to kick off our annual fundraiser will all proceeds benefitting Alzheimer’s of Tennessee starting in the month of March. Our residents are going to help make homemade soap and candles that will be sold the week of March 10 thru March 14th on the Healthcare side. We will have flyers posted with more information soon.
Special Thanks: March is going to bring warmer days and more sunshine. We would like to say thank you to those who bring sunshine with their smiles and kindness every day. Let me start by thanking all of our wonderful volunteers who help to enrich the lives of our residents every day. We are so thankful they come and share their time and talents with us. We want to say a big thank you to all of the Operation Christmas Child volunteers for coming and letting us be a part of such a wonderful program. Thank you in advance to all of those in our community who are helping to make our Alzheimer’s of Tennessee fundraiser a success this year. We couldn’t do this without you. Last but definitely not least, A HUGE thank you to all our NHC partners and families for all you do!!

March is also National Nutrition Month, a perfect time to focus on healthy eating habits and overall wellness. Here are a few tips to help you celebrate:
- Incorporate More Fruits and Vegetables: Aim to fill half your plate with fruits and vegetables at each meal.
- Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your body hydrated and functioning optimally.
