MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – National HealthCare Corporation (NYSE Amex: NHC, NHC.PRA), one of the nation’s oldest long-term health care companies, announced today that The Health Center at Richland Place in Nashville received NHC’s highest honor by winning the Center of the Year award at this year’s annual management conference.

NHC gives the award to the center that meets the highest standard in patient support, safety, rehabilitation and nursing care, employee turnover and financial performance. Tim Shelly, administrator, accepted the honor on behalf of his staff.

Shelly said his staff members were extremely proud when told they had achieved NHC’s highest honor. “I feel that we have worked hard to hire and retain a very qualified group of health care professionals. They put their heart into the care and services we provide our customers. Our performance is only as good as each employee’s effort toward achieving a high level of customer satisfaction.” said Shelly.

In addition, Richland Place received NHC’s Five Star Excellence Certification. The Five Star Excellence Certification is the premium category for operational performance. This award is achieved through outstanding services provided by the center’s staff and it publicly recognizes the center and staff as one of NHC’s best.

Richland Place is a 131 bed center which provides rehabilitation, skilled nursing services and assisted living complemented by an upscale environment that includes amenities such as spacious rooms, Wi-Fi and fine dining services.
