“NHC HealthCare is NOT a nursing home. I learned this through an extremely eye-opening experience. In February 2013, I had a total knee replacement. After debating with both my surgeon and insurance company, I decided to go to NHC to get started with my rehabilitation. The second I walked in the door my opinion immediately started to change. Everyone from the admitting staff, to cafeteria workers, nurses and physical therapy staff were exceptionally welcoming and friendly. Within a few hours of being there, I had my first visit from the physical therapist to get me started with exercises I could do in my room to help me progress more quickly. After 7 days of being there, I went back to my doctor to get my staples out. He was absolutely amazed at how far I had advanced in such a short amount of time. I was almost a month ahead of schedule. I was discharged from NHC that day but decided to return there to finish 6 more weeks of therapy. The care and compassion I received and observed others receiving at NHC during that one week was above and beyond anything I could have ever imagined. My outlook on this facility has been forever changed. I will never be able to express enough gratitude to the staff at NHC HealthCare.”
