How long can I stay in an Assisted Living Facility before moving to a Nursing Home?
Assisted Living facilities are licensed and regulated by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. Our regulations state that a resident of an assisted living facility must be able to perform one Activity of Daily Living (bathing, dressing, feeding) and not need the services of a licensed nurse in order to remain in an assisted living facility. This being said, residents are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. At The Palmettos, we believe that open communication is vital to the care of our residents. We will always notify our families about any change in condition and do everything we can to extend the time that our residents can stay in their “home” within the regulations of DHEC.
