Our registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and certified nursing assistants provide comprehensive individualized nursing care 24 hours a day. Skilled nursing services provide transitional care for patients who require intensive nursing restorative services. Whether provided for a few days, weeks or months, our physician-directed subacute and skilled heath care services are designed to complement a hospital stay, or, in many cases, be a substitute for continued hospitalization.

- We cater to specific Alzheimer’s and dementia symptoms including memory impairments, sun downing and wandering. We provide assistance with activities of daily living, individualized nursing care, activities to ensure quality of life and supportive services to loved ones. Our state-of-the-art unit provides a safe and secure environment.
REHABILITATION
Physical Therapy:
Providing outpatient and inpatient physical therapy services with the latest treatment approaches and equipment available for patients to achieve their goals and return to their prior level of function.
Our therapists have extensive experience with neuromuscular and orthopedic rehabilitation.
Our overall treatment approaches and equipment include gait training, Nustep cross trainer, individualized therapeutic treatment protocols, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, massage, balance activities, Wii Fit, and joint mobilization. We offer an individualized treatment approach that focuses on the progress and overall well-being of every patient.

Occupational Therapy:
Occupational Therapy addresses activities of daily living such as self-feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting as well as higher level instrumental activities of daily living to include safety with home management, room management (for ALF patients), and medication management.
Occupational Therapy is an integral part of the rehabilitation process with emphasis on upper body range of motion and strengthening, visual perceptual training and standing balance necessary to resume safe prior level of performance for self-care tasks.
Occupational Therapy performs home assessments for patients ready to discharge from rehab to ensure readiness for discharge. Home assessments will address changes in ADL’s and the use of assistive devices in the home. Family and patient may conclude that the patient may not be able to perform activities and recommendations for additional adaptive or assistive equipment to maximize safe performance will be made. Specialty certifications include Lymphedema and Saebo devices. Occupational Therapy services are available at NHC HealthCare, Mauldin as inpatient and outpatient.

Speech Therapy:
Our Speech Therapy Department is proud to offer therapy services that focus on the treatment of speech, language, swallowing and cognitive-communication deficits.
Our treatment techniques include, but are not limited to Vital Stimulation and Deep Pharyngeal Neuromuscular Stimulation for the remediation of swallow deficits and Lee Silverman Voice Treatment for the treatment of vocal deficits typically associated with Parkinson’s disease. We offer Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) for the onsite diagnostic treatment of dysphagia. Onsite FEEs eliminates the need for transport to an outpatient facility and allows for in-house treatment in a setting familiar to the patient. We also specialize in the treatment of speech, language, and cognitive deficits associated with CVA’s and other medical diagnoses.
