While the first day of Summer is recognized on June 21st, it is hard to deny that all the warm feelings of all that is Summer have arrived. June is a time of celebration for many with friends, family, churches, and neighbors. Whether you have a special trip planned or sticking close to home, we wish you all a happy Summer!
Take a look at these events going on for the month of June: Coffee Social Monday the 10th at 2pm, Doughnuts with dad Friday the 14th at 2pm, Bingofit each Monday at 10:00am, Church services held each S/T/W, Darlene’s Gospel singing Friday the 21st at 2pm, Bingo most Wednesday’s at 2pm.
Please come and help us celebrate all the fathers at NHC with special Doughnuts and coffee. Please continue to check our calendars for special added activities during the month. We are looking for volunteers to assist with some fun games and 1:1 visits at any time available.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY FROM NHC
Father’s Day is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than firing up the grill and treating Dad to a mouthwatering feast? This year, skip the store-bought sauces and whip up something truly special with our exclusive recipe for Tangy Maple Bourbon BBQ Sauce. Packed with flavor and sure to please even the most discerning of taste buds, this sauce is guaranteed to take your Father’s Day BBQ to the next level.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup bourbon whiskey
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- Salt to taste
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a medium saucepan, combine all the ingredients: ketchup, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, bourbon whiskey, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, smoked paprika, onion powder, black pepper, and a pinch of salt.
- Whisk the ingredients together until well combined.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer gently for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly and the flavors meld together.
- Once the sauce reaches your desired consistency, remove it from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning if needed, adding more salt or pepper to suit your preferences.
- Transfer the sauce to a clean jar or bottle and let it cool completely before using.
- Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
