As the vibrant colors of fall arrive and the air turns cooler, we’re excited to celebrate the season of change and reflection.  We’re grateful to have you as part of our family during this beautiful time of year!

Center News: October is a beautiful month that offers many fun events for people of all ages to enjoy. We are very excited and can hardly wait for the vibrant colors of the changing leaves, crisp October air, pumpkin flavored drinks, baking some yummy treats and participating in Halloween Party Bash. On Tuesday, the 1st at 3:00pm we will start of the month by serving some delicious donuts with pumpkin flavored coffee. We will be making spooky Halloween Bracelets on Wednesday, Oct. 2nd at 2:00pm. On Thursday, the 3rd in the morning at 10:30am please come to enjoy Meghan’s presentation on the “Most Haunted Places in the US”. Later that day we will be crafting greeting cards of all sorts including Christmas with Renita, one of our volunteers. On Friday at 2:30pm let’s gather together for pumpkin themed Happy Hour (everything is pumpkin flavored, and it will be glorious). On Tuesday, the 8th at 10:30am join us for a Family Feud; it will be funny and definitely entertaining. On Wednesday, the 9th at 2:30pm we will have a Native American History presentation. On Thursday, the 10th at 2:00pm we invite you to come and find your inner craft guru by painting and decorating wood hanging wonder-fall creations for your door. On Tuesday, Oct. 15th at 2:30pm Paul Indelicato will deliver great Life Musical Entertainment. On the 16th at 2:30pm, we invite all of you to help us celebrate residents whose Birthdays are in the month of October. On Thursday, Oct. 17th at 1:30pm Kimberly, from Caris, will lead Spooky Painting lesson (you can opt for scary or sweet). On Friday, the18th at 2:30pm come to our Happy Hour this time it will be a camping style. This is Important, On October 21st starting at 9:30pm we will begin VOTING for PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION with Knox County Election Commission. on Tuesday, the 22nd at 2:00pm is our Resident Council Meeting. On Wednesday, the 23rd at 10:30am we will be going out for lunch to one of our resident’s favorite restaurant, Chesapeake’s. Later that day at 2:00pm we invite you to please join us for Baking Halloween Trail Mix. Fall and baking are the perfect match. Our oven will be busy all October long. On Thursday, Oct. 24th at 2:30pm we will enjoy Life Musical Entertainment with one of our favorite performers, Timothy!! On Friday, Oct. 25th at 10:30am let’s make more fall decorations. This time we’ll be making Candy Corn Craft, later that day at 2:30pm we will have Halloween Themed Happy Hour (Spooky). On Oct. 29th starting at 5:00pm to 7:00pm we are having Community Trick or Treat. During this fun event you can feast on your favorite sweets, and you are not allowed to feel guilty about it! On Wednesday, Oct. 30st at 2:00pm it’s a perfect time to make more fun and spooky paintings just in time for a Halloween Costume Party which will be on Thursday the 31st at 2:00pm. We hope you will enjoy all the events, festivities and programs we have planned. October will be an awesome month, and we will do our best to keep you happy, busy and entertained!

Announcements for Families: We invite you to please come and participate in any of our activities with your loved ones. We are always happy to see you and appreciate your feedback. We also invite you to please bring your children and grandchildren dressed in their best costumes for a fun event Trick or Treat on Tuesday the 29th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Thank you!

Special Thanks: We would love to thank Karen and Jeff Walker, our volunteers, who come every Thursday at 3:30pm to lead Devotions and Hymns Singing. This spiritual program has gained so much interest among our residents as it is providing greater peace, calmness and joy.

As flu season begins, we want to remind everyone to take extra precautions. Please make sure to get your flu shot, and if you’re feeling under the weather, we kindly ask that you stay home and plan your visit for another time when you’re feeling better. Don’t forget to wash your hands regularly to help keep everyone healthy!

Hurricane Helene Update

We are incredibly proud of the remarkable teamwork our NHC team members have shown in supporting locations impacted by Hurricane Helene. Many of our NHC partners are recovering from loss and storm destruction, and their resilience during this difficult time is inspiring. Please continue to keep those impacted by the Hurricane in your thoughts and prayers as they rebuild and recover.
