TULLAHOMA, TN – Construction is now complete on National HealthCare Corp.’s beautiful new skilled nursing facility in Tullahoma, and it will be open for residents in about five weeks, officials with the Murfreesboro-based company said today.

“The construction company, D.F. Chase,. has delivered us a beautiful building and we’re looking forward to serving the people of Tullahoma for years go come with the state-of-the-art facility,” said Gerald Coggin, senior vice president of corporate relations for NHC.

NHC-Tullahoma, a 90-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, located on Cedar Lane in Tullahoma’s emerging medical zone, represents an $11 million investment by NHC and will employ approximately 100 people. Veteran administrator Jaine Colley, who has worked as a healthcare administrator for NHC since 1998, will serve as the center’s director.

Colley says the next five weeks will be spent moving furniture, equipment and supplies into the building and preparing staff for opening, expected in early November after the state of Tennessee inspects the new facility and grants a license to open. That inspection is scheduled for Nov. 1, Colley said, and “we hope to move our first resident in on November 4.”

“NHC-Tullahoma is an important addition to Tullahoma’s role as a medical hub for its region,” says Coggin. “We are excited to open soon in Tullahoma and provide top-quality nursing and rehabilitation care to the senior residents of Coffee and surrounding counties.”

Before construction began, an economic study of the project concluded it would create direct and indirect jobs paying approximately $5.3 million annually and generating more than $200,000 in tax revenues for local government.

NHC-Tullahoma is the first of several new NHC facilities in the planning stages for the Middle Tennessee region, including a 90-bed facility in Nashville’s Bellevue area that will provide skilled nursing, assisted living and memory care to treat dementia, and a 92-bed skilled nursing facility in Sumner County on property between Gallatin and Hendersonville.

NHC-Tullahoma will provide a wide array of therapeutic, rehabilitative and continuing care services. The facility has a variety of private rooms, companion suites and semi-private rooms.

Patients at NHC-Tullahoma will see the same approach as patients at other NHC skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers, where each patient is evaluated by a team of health care professionals who design a program tailored to meet the individual’s specific needs, and create a comprehensive plan designed to result in optimum health benefits for the individual. Specific rehab services offered include Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Treatment Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Medical Nutritional Therapy, Restorative Therapy, while skilled nursing services include Subacute And Skilled Nursing Care, Traditional Care, Respite Care, Comfort Care, Hospice Care, Wound Care, On-site X-ray and Doppler Ultrasound, Registered Dietitian Services, Pain Management, IV Therapy and ?Alzheimer’s Care
