NHC Announces the Appointment of Dr. Charles Ball, MD as Medical Director of South Central Region

NOVEMBER 9, 2020 MURFREESBORO, TN-National HealthCare Corporation has appointed Charles Ball, MD to Medical Director of the South Central region. Dr. Ball was formerly the medical director of Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee where he was an active member of the medical staff since 1979.  He also has served as Medical Director of NHC Columbia for the past 40 years.

“Dr. Ball brings more than 40 years of experience to our healthcare centers and we look forward to the impact of his leadership across the region,” said Doran Johnson, Senior Vice President of NHC South Central Region. “We are committed to providing the highest quality patient care in our healthcare centers and Dr. Ball’s appointment to medical director will further enhance the care we provide to our patients in a better way of caring day by day.”

Dr. Ball will be launching a unique model of care delivered by an onsite provider every day at NHC Columbia and NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center. As Medical Director, Dr. Ball will actively participate in quality assurance and the development of performance improvement.  He will partner with clinical teams including each center’s medical directors for 13 healthcare centers in Tennessee and Alabama.

“Over the past 40 years, I have found the area of geriatrics and long-term care to be especially rewarding,” said Dr. Ball.  “I have a passion for caring for patients at this phase in their life. I am excited to begin my new role with NHC and look forward to serving all communities in our region recognizing NHC as the leader in senior care.”

Dr. Ball received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine at Memphis and completed a residency in family medicine at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Dr. Ball is board certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
