NHC HealthCare Oakwood
COVID-19 Update from NHC HealthCare Oakwood
Thank you for choosing our center for your loved one. We appreciate the opportunity to provide excellent care and compassion to your family.
Our center follows CDC and CMS guidelines for precautions, testing, and reporting for COVID-19.
COVID-19 Vaccine: For more information about the COVID-19 vaccine, please click here.
Visitation and Visitor Precautions
Visitation: We are excited to share that CMS released new visitation guidance that allows for indoor visitation for all patients at all times. Visitors will need to follow our CORE principles of COVID-19 infection prevention. It is important that you do not visit if you have any signs and symptoms of COVID-19 or do not feel well. Should you begin to exhibit any signs and symptoms of COVID-19 when visiting, we ask that you understand the risk that you may present to others and leave the center.
There may be times when we have staff members and/or patients that are infected with COVID-19. Please be aware of that potential risk. Our website will have our most current COVID-19 case status.
To review community updates on COVID-19, please check out the notification dashboard below.
To find out the county-level positivity for any facility, please visit https://data.cms.gov/stories/s/COVID-19-Nursing-Home-Data/bkwz-xpvg/ and scroll to the “COVID-19 Testing” paragraph and click the link to view “rates of county positivity.”
Dashboard Reporting
CMS requires us to notify the families of our skilled nursing patients via our website of status changes including when a confirmed infection of COVID-19 is identified, or whenever 3 or more residents or staff with new onset of respiratory symptoms within 72 hours of each other are under investigation. We report all positive confirmations of patients and partners (employees) directly to the local and state departments of health.
Dashboard Reporting Categories
Number of In-House Active COVID Patients refers to the number of patients with active COVID-19 diagnosis being treated in the center’s dedicated unit with appropriate personal protective equipment and dedicated staffing.
Number or Patients under Investigation refers to the number of patients who have tests pending and meet the definition from CDC for persons under investigation.
Number of Employees Under Investigation refers to how many employees, providers, and contractors providing care have tests pending and meet the definition from the CDC for persons under investigation.
For more COVID-19 reported data, please visit this link to CMS COVID-19 Nursing Home Data.
The tracking of the Point Prevalence Testing (mass testing of all patients and employees) will not be reflected in the Number of Patients or Number of Employees Under Investigation columns, as mass testing does not meet the definition from CDC for Persons Under Investigation. Any positives resulting from the mass testing will be reflected in the numbers appropriately.
