Summer is really heating up and so is the fun of July as we have several things to celebrate this month! July is a month for celebrating as a nation and is chocked full of BBQ related holidays.  We hope you all had a safe and fun Independence Day. We are so grateful and blessed to live in a nation where we may experience simple freedoms every day.

LET THE FIREWORKS BEGIN!!! NHC Fort Sanders has another exciting month that awaits our residents, partners, and families! July starts off with a BANG with our Fourth of July Cookout for residents & partners this Thursday, July 4th @ 11:00am in our dining room and courtyard in which we will have hotdogs on the grill with all the good fixings prepared by our Dietary Dept. and Administrative Staff. On Wednesday, July 17th, we will host musical entertainer, Lillie Madison, to come sing and perform her own Motown sound to our residents @ 2:00pm in the ground floor dining room. And of course, it’s that time to vote again! The Knox County Election Commission will be arriving at our center on Thursday, July 18th to give residents the opportunity to vote in the State Primary and County General Election. As the summer is heating up, “The Fort” finds ways to cool down, so come join us for fun at our Ice Cream Social on Friday, July 26th @ 2:00pm in the dining room!

Attention NHC Families and Partners! If you know anyone who has a little extra time on their hand and would like to volunteer at “The Fort”, please have them contact Carla Kinser, Life Enrichment Director, via phone: (865) 525-4131 (ext. 116) or via email: carla.kinser@nhccare.com. There are many ways to volunteer at our center whether it’s assisting with a group activity, helping with our dining program, delivering mail, visiting with residents 1:1, etc. We’re sure we can find an interest for you that not only meets our needs but fulfills your purpose in how you can help others. And Families, you are welcomed to join your resident loved one in our center’s group activities at any time and enjoy the experience with them. Activity Calendars are posted in resident rooms, on our digital TVs located on each floor near the elevator, and also on NHC Fort Sanders webpage.

NHC Fort Sanders would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Random Acts of Flowers who delivered beautiful bouquets to our residents on June 18th. And a special “shout out” goes to Kimberly Way with Caris Hospice who did canvas painting with our residents on June 5th. Come check out their artistic “sunsets in paradise” paintings on display on our Wall of Fame located on ground floor! And finally, NHC Fort Sanders would like to congratulate C.N.A., Dominique McKinney, as our 2024 CNA of the Year! We are so proud of you, Dominique! Thank You for all your love and dedication you have given this year! And of course, thank you to all our 2024 CNA of the Year Nominees for your continued TLC, dedication, and loyalty to our NHC Family! You are the “Best of the Best” in what you do, and it shows in the smiles and relationships you have with our residents, families, and each other.
