August is already here, and the year continues to fly by. Schools are getting back in session making these dog days of summer a bit more hectic for many families. We wish everyone a smooth transition back into daily routines and hope you enjoy the remaining bits of summer!

Special Events: Can you believe it is August?! We are so excited! You will notice on our calendar that Chaplain Austin Moore has changed his religious services to Tuesdays at 3:30pm in the Rehab Lobby and Sundays at 10:30am in the Assisted Living Soda Fountain. Starting the month off strong, Primrose Summer Adventure Club is coming on August 1st at 10:30am to do their courtyard beautification program. They will bring flowers, flowerpots, rocks to paint, and big smiles on their faces. Lillie Madison, former Miss Senior of Texas, is joining us on August 7th at 2:30pm to perform her “Rocking to the Oldies” musical program. It is her first time visiting our facility, and we want to give her a crowd to remember! We will have our Operation Christmas Child group with Two Rivers Church on August 13th at 10:30am. Our friend, Kimberly Way, is coming back to craft and will lead “Mermaids and Mocktails” on August 14th at 2:00pm. Paul Indelicato will be doing his live musical performance on August 15th at 2:00pm. He is awesome! Two Rivers Church volunteer, Micki Ritchie, will begin her new program “The Joy of Jesus Bible Study” on August 20th at 10:30am. They will continue to meet weekly on Tuesdays at 10:30am after this date. Senior Citizen Day is on August 21st! We want to celebrate all our friends here by doing Snow cones at 2:00pm. We hope to have this event outside to enjoy the sunshine. Our volunteer, Patsy, will be making Jewelry on August 22nd at 1:30pm. She worked here for almost 23 years and now kindly volunteers her talent and time. Please join her in making bracelets, earrings, and necklaces. We want to acknowledge all our August birthdays on August 28th at 2:00pm with a monthly birthday celebration. We will have cake, and we invite everyone to come celebrate. We have National Creamsicle Day on August 29th at 2:00pm. It is a perfect way to cool off with a sweet treat. Be on the lookout for flyers around the facility addressing additional groups, scheduling changes, spontaneous events, and more! We hope to see you there!

Announcements for Families: Family and friends are always welcome in our activities, and we encourage you to join in on the fun with your loved ones. Our program is designed to stimulate and support your highest social, physical, and emotional functional levels while completing your therapy. We are gearing up for UT Football Season, and if you have any decorations you would like to donate we would greatly appreciate it! Go Vols! Thanks: We want to give a shout out to our Regional partners Diana Melendy and Amy Reed!! They organized a Lunch and Learn for our Life Enrichment Department reminding us of the importance of teamwork, positivity, and creativity! They gave us tons of new ideas to implement into our program, and we are so excited to share them with our friends here at NHC Farragut. Thank you Diana and Amy for being such a light! Your kindness and compassion is something that everyone can learn from, and it is an honor to work with you! THANK YOU!

 National Senior Citizen Day (Discounts)

August 21st recognizes all those in their golden years with National Senior Citizen Day. At NHC, we want to eliminate any stigma associated with being a “Senior Citizen” and embrace all the rewards that come along with growing older. In addition to wisdom, patience, and in many cases grandchildren, growing older has many wonderful attributes. However, one often forgotten perk is the discounts. National Immunization Month 
 
August is National Immunization Month and serves as a reminder to get receive your vaccines for the upcoming season. This reminder stresses the importance of vaccines and their role in protecting people of all ages. Make sure to talk with your physicians about you and your family’s best vaccine schedules!
