August is already here, and the year continues to fly by. Schools are getting back in session making these dog days of summer a bit more hectic for many families. We wish everyone a smooth transition back into daily routines and hope you enjoy the remaining bits of summer!
Special Events: August, named after the Latin term for “Majestic and Magnificent is going to be just that. You will notice that we have planned many new and exciting special events, activities and outings. Starting on Thursday, August 1st at 10:30am, Children from Primrose will come to beautify our outdoor spaces. Together we will paint rocks and plant flowers. Primrose Preschool will provide all the supplies as this is their community project. We are so very grateful and want to say thank you for chousing NHC Farragut. On Tuesday, August 6th at 2:30pm Meghan is going to present “Histories Biggest Mysteries”. On Wednesday, August 7th at 10:30am we are going to enjoy lunch out at Copper Celler. Later that day at 2:30pm, Lillie Madison, a new performer will entertain us with her “Rocking to the Oldies” live performance. On Tuesday, August 13th at 10:30am Come join Two Rivers Church Volunteers in making toys for needy children. This life changing charitable event from Samaritan’s Purse is called Operation Christmas Child. All materials needed will be supplied by Two Rivers Church volunteers. Later that day at 2:30pm Paul Indelicato, as always will deliver a great live musical performance. On Wednesday, August 14th at 10:30am we are going to take a bus ride to Ingles for grocery shopping. On Thursday, August 15th at 1:30 pm we are going on another out-trip. This time we will enjoy Robert Birdwell Exhibit, at the Oak Ridge Art Center. Wednesday, August 21st is a National Senior Citizen’s Day!!!! We are very excited as this day is a very special one and we have planned many special events for that day. Starting at 10:30am with an out-trip to lunch at Chesapeake, At 2:30pm we will have a Monthly Birthday Celebration for our residents whose Birthday is in the month Of August. Everyone is invited! We are excited to announce that on Wednesday, August 21st at 6:00pm we are hosting FAMILY FUN NIGHT!!! We are going to socialize, celebrate our Seniors, have a Bean Auction and indulge in sweet deserts. On Tuesday, August 27th at 2:00pm Kimberly Way from Caris will host “Let’s Make a Deal” game. On Friday, August 30st at 3:00pm Al Mahan will charm us with his great personality, good comedy, and stunning live musical performance. Announcements for Families: Dear families, friends, and caregivers. You are invited to FAMILY FUN NIGHT featuring Bean Auction!!! Wednesday, August 21 at 6:00pm. Let’s celebrate your loved ones, and Senior Citizen Day in a fun way! Please bring your favorite dessert to share. Let’s come together for some delicious, sweet treats, good company, and some excitement. Thanks: Our Life Enrichment Department would like to thank all of our wonderful volunteers who give so much of themselves and ask for nothing in return. Another big thank you goes to Karen and Jeff Walker who volunteer every Thursday to deliver spiritual program of devotions and hymns. Our great volunteers from HABIT, Anne and Bill Parks with Darby and Nanette Hurst with Piper, thank you for sharing your sweet dogs with our residents and bringing smiles to their faces. Huge thank you goes to our Weekend Volunteers, Jacob and Maxey, who come to call Bingo on Saturdays. We can’t thank you all enough for all you do! At NHC, we want to eliminate any stigma associated with being a “Senior Citizen” and embrace all the rewards that come along with growing older.
